After-School Apple Dumplings

October 17, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

I absolutely love apple dumplings.  I live near a couple of Amish communities and their dumplings are hard to beat but terribly time-consuming.  My daycare provider gave me this recipe YEARS ago and I modified it slightly to exclude the Mt. Dew it originally called for…I try very hard not to keep that around the house!  I like to make this on those days I happen to beat the kids home.  It smells amazing and takes only 15 minutes or so to put together, so give it a try!

After-School Apple Dumplings

1 can crescent rolls (can use reduced fat)

1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and in 8 slices

1/4 c. butter

1/2 c. sugar (brown sugar would be AMAZING)

1 t. cinnamon

1/2 c. apple cider or juice

Roll apple slices in crescent rolls and arrange in an 8×8 pan.  Melt butter and stir in sugar, cinnamon, and apple cider.  Pour over dumplings and sprinkle more cinnamon on top.  Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes, or until golden.

This is a before picture…we ate them before I could remember to take an after picture (story of my life).
